Collaboration, Innovation, Support
  • Art travelers
Our recent grant to the Hofstra University Museum for Art Travelers Through Time program provides opportunities to inspire learning, increase cultural knowledge, and help students become more academically competitive.
  • Communicate with Compassion
A grant to South Nassau Communities Hospital is helping medical staff and social workers communicate more effectively and compassionately with patients about end-of-life issues.
  • Inspiring Future Scientists

  • Charitable Gift of our Donors

  • Collaboration, Innovation, Support
Originally launched by a collaborative fund initiated by LICF, The Early Years Institute has worked to improve the quality of early childcare and education on Long Island since 2002.

We are Long Island’s Foundation, making grants to improve our region and helping donors with their philanthropy since 1978. We have made more than $130 million in grants from hundreds of funds established by generous individuals, families, and businesses. LICF is a division of The New York Community Trust, one of the country’s oldest and largest community foundations.

Marie Colvin was a Long Island native and acclaimed war correspondent, tragically killed in Syria on February 22, 2012, while covering the conflict for The Sunday Times of London. She was known for her moving accounts of innocent civilians caught in the tide of war, and for her courage, tenacity and indefatigable commitment to truth-seeking.
