LICF Presents $20,000 to Services for the UnderServed

A recent Veterans Affairs National Suicide Data Report indicates more than 6,000 veteran suicides occurred each year from 2008 to 2016, Male veterans under the age of 30 are three times likely to kill themselves than their civilian counterparts. Approximately 5,000 Long Island-based veterans served in Iraq and Afghanistan; fifty percent have mental health needs. With the generosity of LICF donors, we're proud to present funding to Services for the UnderServed - S:US to train their Long Island staff to assess veterans for suicide risk and provide effective interventions.
