NCCADV Recognizes Suzy Sonenberg

On November 5th, the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence recognized Suzy Sonenberg for her role in creating the Nonprofit Crisis Fund. When the New York State budget was stalled last spring, Suzy called on several LICF donors who, along with The New York Community Trust, placed $150,000 into an emergency fund. Five Long Island programs providing urgent assistance to families on the mend from substance abuse and domestic violence drew LICF emergency funds to keep staff employed and families engaged in essential counseling. After the budget was negotiated and TANF funds appropriated for human service providers, these agencies were able to refund a proportion of their LICF grants so that funds are available for future emergencies.
