Brown v. Board of Education: The Unfinished Agenda

Over 600 Long Islanders interested in the future of Long Island public schools attended a joint conference on Monday, March 29th, marking the 50th anniversary of Brown, the US Supreme Court decision mandating desegregation of the nation's public school systems. The conference was co-sponsored by ERASE Racism, an initiative of the Long Island Community Foundation, and fourteen Long Island colleges and universities. Invited speakers included Theodore M. Shaw, incoming Director - Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc.; William Taylor, Georgetown University Law School professor and well known civil rights advocate and litigator; Howard A. Glickstein, Dean of Touro Law Center; Robert A. Scott, President of Adelphi University; and others.
