As of January 13, all proposals submitted for this funding must conform to the new guidelines. The new guidelines can be downloaded here or from the grantseekers' page for Community Response grants. A year-long, outside review of grants awarded by the Long Island Community Foundation over the past 3-5 years, a process that included interviews with past grantees, unsuccessful grant applicants, and community leaders, has led to a significant revision of the LICF guidelines governing the award of community response grants. The new guidelines focus the Foundation’s grantmaking on addressing critical regional issues facing Long Island, the communities most affected by these issues, and the strengthening of organizations within these communities to empower the residents and create permanent change. The critical issues facing Long Island will change over time, and the list below is not intended to be all-inclusive. The LICF has identified these issues as among the most pressing to the economic, social, and political viability of our region.
If you wish to submit a proposal addressing a different broad regional issue or a particular affected community, we ask that you include enough information in your proposal to make the case for consideration within the guidelines. Applicants seeking an LICF Community Response grant must conform to the new guidelines in order to be considered. Proposals may be delivered or mailed to the LICF at 1740 Old Jericho Turnpike, Jericho, NY 11753. Proposals will not be accepted by fax or email. Watch for the exact deadline date for the next LICF grants cycle.
