The LICF considers proposals for grants in several special purpose areas that fall outside the guidelines for the community response and LIUU grants. The purpose of these funds was defined by the donors when they established these funds within the LICF.

Roselle Patricia Luciano Literacy Fund for Women

  • To support programs for women in Nassau County, living in disadvantaged circumstances, that focus on literacy, including, but not limited to: reading, English, and/or computer literacy.

Elizabeth Pritzker Fund

  • For organizations working to benefit "needy and worthy musicians."

Long Island Fund for Education

  • For small grant awards to teachers for innovative classroom projects.

Grant Range: Funding available from each special purpose fund varies each year. Call for availability.

Eligibility:

  • A community group or emerging grassroots organization that can secure the cooperation of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization willing to administer the grant

or

  • 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization operating for charitable purposes

and

located in Nassau or Suffolk County and working directly and primarily for the benefit of Long Island residents.
